The U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division hosted a Yellow Ribbon event Sept. 12-14 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Rev. Dr. Paul V. McCullough III, Army Reserve Ambassador for Pennsylvania, served as keynote speaker for the event. Yellow Ribbon events span the deployment cycle - pre-deployment prep, mid-tour virtual check-ins and post-deployment reintegration - to connect families with vital resources, all backed by the program’s emphasis on family well-being. Some Heroes Wear Quilts: Army Reserve Soldier recognized by Quilts of Valor during International Quilting Festival
During opening day of the International Quilt Festival Nov. 3, 2022, in Houston, Donna Swanson (right), New Hampshire state coordinator, Quilts of Valor, reads a certificate of appreciation presented to Col. Tina L. Kirkpatrick (left), commander, 475th Quartermaster Group, U.S. Army Reserve. Kirkpatrick received a custom made quilt designed by Leo McClure, one of more than 10,000 Quilts of Valor members. Kirkpatrick, who also serves as the suicide prevention program manager for the 75th Innovation Command, plans to collaborate with Quilts of Valor, a national organization that has made more than 300,000 quilts designed specifically for veterans in honor of their service and sacrifice, to integrate quilting as a form of art therapy to enhance Soldier resiliency.
