APMC Change of Command
Lt. Col. (p) Jennifer L. Staples, the outgoing Army Medical Department Professional Management Command commander, receives the colors from 1 st Sgt. Adrian Williams during the APMC Change of Command Ceremony held Monday, Aug. 23 at Fort Gillem in Forest Park, Illinois. Headquartered at Fort Gillem, the APMC is a direct reporting unit to Army Reserve Medical Command and is responsible managing over 1000 Army Reserve Soldiers with critical medical specialties assigned to USAR units and attached to APMC for personnel, training, finance, and professional credentialing. It currently has numerous soldiers deployed worldwide in the global war on terrorism. APMC provides mission and command support to assigned and attached Army Reserve medical officers and conducts centralized credentialing for all Army Reserve medical providers. Change of command ceremonies are a military tradition that represent a transfer of authority and responsibility for units or commands. The history, tradition, and accomplishments of the command are embodied in the colors. The passing of colors from an outgoing commander to an incoming commander ensures that the unit and its Soldiers are never without official leadership, represents a continuation of trust, and signifies an allegiance of Soldiers to their unit's commander.
