The U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division hosted a Yellow Ribbon event Sept. 12-14 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Rev. Dr. Paul V. McCullough III, Army Reserve Ambassador for Pennsylvania, served as keynote speaker for the event. Yellow Ribbon events span the deployment cycle - pre-deployment prep, mid-tour virtual check-ins and post-deployment reintegration - to connect families with vital resources, all backed by the program’s emphasis on family well-being. Former college athlete trades football helmet for Army combat helmet
Army Reserve Spc. Javiere Mitchell, a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist and former outside linebacker for the Auburn College football team, assigned to 1st Platoon, 318th Chemical Company, 490th Chemical Battalion, 209th Regional Support Group, 76th Operational Response Command, prepares thread to sew up some gear at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin Sept. 19. Mitchell and his unit are currently conducting a wide-variety of CBRN training at Fort McCoy, as part of Operation Desert Dragon, a two-week exercise designed to test the unit’s specialized capabilities in a variety of scenarios as they prepare for an upcoming deployment.
