The U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division hosted a Yellow Ribbon event Sept. 12-14 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Rev. Dr. Paul V. McCullough III, Army Reserve Ambassador for Pennsylvania, served as keynote speaker for the event. Yellow Ribbon events span the deployment cycle - pre-deployment prep, mid-tour virtual check-ins and post-deployment reintegration - to connect families with vital resources, all backed by the program’s emphasis on family well-being. Soldiers assigned to the 101st Airborne Division stand over a casket during the graveside service of Staff Sgt. Al Mampre at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Mampre served as a medic with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Mampre was one of the 'Band of Brothers' whose exploits were made into an HBO television series and also a book by historian Stephen Ambrose. Mampre died May 31, 2019, in Evanston. Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division; Brig. Gen. Kris A. Belanger, Commanding General, 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command and representatives from several police departments took part in the funeral service.
