The U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division hosted a Yellow Ribbon event Sept. 12-14 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Rev. Dr. Paul V. McCullough III, Army Reserve Ambassador for Pennsylvania, served as keynote speaker for the event. Yellow Ribbon events span the deployment cycle - pre-deployment prep, mid-tour virtual check-ins and post-deployment reintegration - to connect families with vital resources, all backed by the program’s emphasis on family well-being. Belanger, Commanding General, 85th Support Command, and World War II veteran, Al Mampre, share their military stories during a panel discussion with students during the Elk Grove High School Veterans Day ceremony, Nov. 9, 2018. Belanger was the keynote speaker for the event and attended with veterans from each of the service branches to include World War II veteran, Al Mampre, who served with the famed 101st Airborne Division’s Easy Company, 506th Infantry Regiment. Mampre’s unit story was featured on the mini-series “Band of Brothers”. Belanger participated in the panel discussion with veterans sharing their stories and answering questions from the students about service. More than 2,000 students, faculty, veterans, and local community members attended the 5-hour event. Also on the panel, not featured in this photo, was U.S. Navy veteran Rod Dabe.
