The U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division hosted a Yellow Ribbon event Sept. 12-14 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Rev. Dr. Paul V. McCullough III, Army Reserve Ambassador for Pennsylvania, served as keynote speaker for the event. Yellow Ribbon events span the deployment cycle - pre-deployment prep, mid-tour virtual check-ins and post-deployment reintegration - to connect families with vital resources, all backed by the program’s emphasis on family well-being. Army Reserve Soldier battles, wins cancer fight
Sgt. Antonio Wright, an Army Reserve water purification specialist and instructor with the 9th/108th Quartermaster Battalion, 1st Brigade, 94th Training Division-Force Sustainment, and his wife Cymone, attend the 2018 5K Foam Fest Apr. 7, 2018 at Lake Islands Resort in Buford, Ga., to celebrate Wright’s cancer recovery. On the civilian side, Wright works as a mental health technician at the Lighthouse Care Center in Augusta, Ga. Wright was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called nasopharyngeal cancer on Oct. 25, 2017. Nasopharyngeal cancer is a cancer that starts in the nasopharynx, the upper part of the throat behind the nose and near the base of skull. The nasopharynx is the upper part of the throat that lies behind the nose. In most parts of the world, including the United States, there is less than one case of nasopharyngeal cancer for every 100,000 people each year. (U.S. Army Photo by Maj.
