Command Sgt. Maj. Capt. Moton earned his Ph.D. in business administration in 2016, joining a select group of Army Reserve Soldiers who have pursued higher education. Of all doctorates in the U.S. Army, 75 percent reside in the U.S. Army Reserve. Of all master’s degrees in the U.S. Army, 50 percent reside in the U.S. Army Reserve. Having such a highly educated force helps America’s Army Reserve remain the most capable, combat-ready and lethal federal reserve force in the history of the nation.

Alex Horanczy, a Pearl Harbor Survivor who served with the 42nd Infantry Division during World War II, is honored June 14 during the Stripes and Stars Festival celebrating the U.S. Army 242nd birthday at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Horanczy joined Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command, and retired Gen. Carter F. Ham, president and CEO of the Association of the United States Army and former commander of U.S. Africa Command, in cutting the Army birthday cake during the event.
