CANTON, Ohio - CANTON, Ohio – Army Sgt. Marty Maggart, bugler, 338th Army Band, 88th Readiness Division, plays Taps during a ceremony honoring former President William McKinley Jan. 25, 2020 in Canton, Ohio. Taps, a 24-note song, is traditionally played at U.S. military funerals and memorials and was first played during the Civil War in 1862 to signify lights out. McKinley enlisted the Ohio Volunteer Army in 1861 and fought alongside future president Rutherford B. Hayes during the Civil War.
