KILLEEN, Texas - U.S. Army Reserve Maj. Jaime Simental, an optometrist for the Kirksville, Mo., based 7240th Medical Support Unit, demonstrates the use of a phoropter at the optometry section of the Deployment Readiness Center in Fort Hood, Texas, Jan. 12, 2026. Simental and other Soldiers of the 7240th MSU mobilized to Fort Hood in order to facilitate in and execute pre-deployment medical and dental readiness validation of service members and civilians, as well as provide supplemental care and evaluations for post-deployment personnel.
