PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - U.S. Army Reserve Maj. Gen. Jonathan Woodson, fourth from left, the incoming commanding general for Army Reserve Medical Command, is joined by his family while he cuts his cake, following a Change of Command ceremony held in Pinellas Park, Florida, March 31, 2019. Maj. Gen. Mary E. Link, outgoing commanding general of ARMEDCOM, relinquished command to Woodson, during the ceremony. The change of command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change of individual authority. It also represents the transfer of power from one leader to another; passing the ceremonial flag from outgoing to incoming commander is a physical representation of that transfer.
