STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - U.S. Army Reserve Col. Cindy Saladin-Muhammad, outgoing commander of Northeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group, relinquished command to Col. Steven Gandia, the new commander for NE-MARSG headquartered in Staten Island, New York, during a Change of Command ceremony held on Sunday, September 16, 2018. The Change of Command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change of individual authority. It also represents the transfer of power from one leader to another; passing the ceremonial flag from outgoing to incoming commander is a physical representation of that transfer.
