Arlington Heights, Ill. - David Lietz, left, Family Readiness Support Assistant, 85th Support Command, directs staff to a more secure area during an active shooter training exercise at the command headquarters, Oct. 30, 2018. Soldiers partnered with the Arlington Heights Police and their neighboring staff from the Defense Contract Management Agency-Chicago for the exercise. More than 100 staff personnel across all of the organizations participated in the building-wide exercise to measure the effectiveness of mass communication systems, staff actions during and after an active shooter event to include securing locations, and medical assessments. The leadership’s actions during and after the event were also assessed, along with coordination with local law enforcement and armed guards. (U.S. Army Reserve photo by Anthony L. Taylor)
