Command Sgt. Maj. Vernon Perry, Command Sergeant Major, 85th Support Command, emphasized the importance of the 85th SPT CMD’s mission during the New Command Teams Orientation brief in Arlington Heights, Ill. on May 19-20, 2017. Perry talked about how the role of the new leaders was to ensure all of their Soldiers and units had what they needed to train and be ready to fight should they be called upon. Perry emphasized his personal tie to the importance ready and properly trained Soldiers in the field, sharing how that very training saved the life of his own son during a deployment.
