FORT McCOY, Wis. - A U.S. Army Soldier assigned to the Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 863rd Engineer Battalion and the 483rd Area Clearance Platoon, standby for a demolition outside of a bunker at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, July 26, 2022. The HHC, 863rd Eng. Bn. is a combat construction engineer battalion with units across Illinois and Missouri. U.S. Army Combat Engineers (12B) are trained to build bridges, clear barriers with explosives and help detect and avoid mines and other environmental hazards in austere locations.
