SAN ANTONIO, Texas - U.S. Army Pfc. Reid F. Clanton, a World War II veteran, rides in a WWII era combat vehicle around the historic Quadrangle of Fort Sam Houston, Texas, May 16, 2022. In a ceremony held earlier that day at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, U.S. Army North paid special tribute to Clanton’s service awarding him long-overdue medals. Clanton enlisted in the U.S. Army at 18 years old, May 19, 1943, and his first combat assignment in a forward artillery observer team with the 29th Infantry Division landed him on Omaha Beach on D-Day.
