CAMP ARIFJAN, KUWAIT - Staff Sgt. Justin Hardin, a public affairs noncommissioned officer assigned to U.S. Army Central, completes a 12-mile ruck march as part of the requirements for the Maj. Gen. Keith L. Ware communications award competition at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Sept. 28, 2019. The award competition recognizes Department of the Army Soldiers and civilian employees for excellence in achieving the objectives of the Army public affairs program. The competition’s standard operating procedure establishes competition criteria and provides the Army with guidance for recognizing the most notable work of its communication professionals. To receive full credit, all entrants must successfully complete the ruck march in three hours or less with 35 pounds dry weight. U.S. Army Central hosts events such as the ruck march to show a commitment to excellence which sustains the Army’s credibility. (U.S. Army Reserve photo by Sgt. Christopher Lindborg)
