Some Heroes Wear Quilts: Army Reserve Soldier recognized by Quilts of Valor during International Quilting Festival

HOUSTON - Col. Tina L. Kirkpatrick, commander, commander, 475th Quartermaster Group, U.S. Army Reserve, views one of the hundreds of custom quilts on display at the International Quilting Festival in Houston Nov. 3, 2022. Kirkpatrick, who in her civilian capacity serves as the suicide prevention program manager, 75th Innovation Command, U.S. Army Reserve, was invited to the Festival by senior leaders of Quilts of Valor to receive a handmade quilt from one of its members. Since 2003, the Quilts of Valor Foundation has covered veterans and service members touched by war with handmade quilts made by one of more than 10,000 Foundation members spread throughout the country.
