DODJI, Senegal - An Armed Forces of Senegal [Forces armées du Sénégal] physician sutures a simulated deep laceration during a medical training exercise with the U.S. Army 933rd Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment in Dodji, Senegal, May 26, 2024. Senegalese, the Royal Netherland Army, and U.S. armed forces medical personnel came together to share, learn and demonstrate tactical medical capabilities during Exercise African Lion 2024 (AL24). AL24 marks the 20th anniversary of U.S. Africa Command’s premier joint exercise led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), running from April 19 to May 31 across Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia, with over 8,100 participants from 27 nations and NATO contingents.
