World War II veteran turns 100

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Pvt. Roosevelt Ruffin, an Army machine gunner veteran who served with Company C, 614th Tank Destroyer Battalion, in World War II, is awarded the Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) during his 100th birthday celebration Feb. 1, 2020, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The PUC is awarded to units of the uniformed services of the United States for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy on or after Dec. 7, 1941 (the date of the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the start of American involvement in World War II).
