FORT HUNTER LIGGET, Calif. - The Senior Gunner Course is only offered at Fort Hunter Liggett, and the first class of 2021 was out at the Multi-Purpose Range Complex, Jan. 22, 2021. The three-week course allows every student to be proficient in each phase of the operations, from gunner to control tower operator, and it has a 60 percent pass rate. Staff Sgt. Jason Obert, U.S. Army Reserve Command Senior Gunner, designed the course to allow successful students to oversee crew gunnery training in their home units. A three-person crew qualifies by hitting stationery and moving targets, and completing classroom coursework.
