Soldiers help Team USA secure medals & Olympic quotas at Pan American Games
U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Derek Haldeman hugs his Team USA teammate, Brian Burrows, after they claimed the Silver and Gold medals, respectively, at the 2019 Pan American Games July 30. The Gold and Silver wins secured two Olympic quotas for the United States, which no other U.S. athletes have been able to do since the 2008 Olympics. Now, with the quotas, Team USA can send two athletes to compete in Men's Trap at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Haldeman, a Sunbury, Ohio native, is competitive marksman/instructor for the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit’s Shotgun Team at Fort Benning, Georgia. (Pan American Games courtesy photo)
