Philadelphia Stripes and Stars Festival
Pvt. Alex Horanczy, a Pearl Harbor Survivor who served with the 42nd Infantry Division during World War II, is honored June 14 during the Stripes and Stars Festival celebrating the U.S. Army 242nd birthday at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Horanczy joined Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command, and retired Gen. Carter F. Ham, president and CEO of the Association of the United States Army and former commander of U.S. Africa Command, in cutting the Army birthday cake during the event.
