Soldier inspects equipment for readiness training
Army Reserve capt. Jason Smigelski, G3/Training Officer, 85th Support Command, conducts a visual/physical inspection of the M249 to determine if there are any noticeable defects. The weapon is one of several weapon systems used in the command's EST-2000 (engagement skills trainer). The 85th Support Command houses a 10-lane system for use in zeroing to qualifying in a dedicated building at the command's installation. The EST 2000 provides a variety of weapon ranging from the M9 to the M136/AT4. The facility is available for federal, local and state agencies to train on and it sees use by a wide variety of organizations throughout the year. The EST 2000 creates a realistic marksmanship and combat scenario training for 12 of the most common small arms and crew-served weapons and individual anti-tank weapons in the US Army inventory.
