Army Reserve Ambassador Daniel Furtado was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps, after completing ROTC and a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of California and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of San Francisco. He served on active duty as Chief, Pharmacology, Academy of Health Sciences, at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Subsequently, he was named Clinical Coordinator, VA Medical Center, Palo Alto, CA, and later was appointed Associate Director, Primary Care Associate Program, at Stanford University School of Medicine. He continues to teach pharmacology. He is a graduate of the Army War College, and the 1st USAR pharmacist to hold the “A” Professional Designator. He holds membership in the Order of Military Medical Merit, and is a Distinguished Member of the AMEDD Regiment. Ambassador Furtado served as City Council Member and Mayor, Campbell, CA. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the League of California Cities and the National League of Cities. He also served as Chair of the Public Safety Committees of the National League of Cities and the League of California Cities. In 2000, he was selected Citizen of the Year for Campbell, CA.
