Command Sergeant Major Robert W. Provost enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1986 and entered active duty at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri as a 12B (Combat Engineer). Upon completion of basic and advanced training he was assigned to C Co, 299th Engineer Battalion, Fort Sill Oklahoma. In 1989 CSM Provost reclassified as a 95B (Military Police), upon completion of training he was assigned to the Wackernheim Military Police Company, Mainz, Germany serving in various assignments. In 1992 CSM Provost was reassigned to Fort Hood Texas again as a member of the 411th Military Police Company. In 1995 CSM Provost was selected to serve as the Fort Hood Military Police Watch Commander and was reassigned to Fort Hood Law Enforcement Activity until his release from active duty in May 1996. CSM Provost reenlisted into the United States Army Reserves and was assigned to the 302nd Military Police Company, Fort Worth Texas. While assigned to the 302nd Military Police Company CSM Provost served in roles culminating as the Company First Sergeant. In September 2005 CSM Provost was reassigned to the 2/95th Military Police Battalion as the Battalion Chief Instructor where he served until July 2008. CSM Provost was then selected to serve as the 341st Multi-Functional Medical Battalion Command Sergeant Major. In February 2011, CSM Provost was selected and the 2d Brigade (Military Police) Command Sergeant Major. CSM Provost left the 2d Brigade (Military Police) in March 2016 after a successful tenure to take on a new challenge in his current position as the Division Command Sergeant Major, 102d Training Division (Maneuver Support). CSM Provost’s significant deployments and mobilizations include; Southwest Asia, Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom I; Operation Enduring Freedom; Central America Honduras, Joint Task Force Bravo; Cuba, Joint Task Force 160, Operation Sea Signal.
Over his career CSM Provost has had the opportunity to attend numerous professional military and civilian educational courses. His military education includes; the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, the Reserve Component National Security Affairs Course, Total Army School Systems Leaders Course, Small Group instructors Course, Army Basic Instructors course, Battle Staff Course as well as numerous other courses. CSM Provost holds a Master Texas Peace Officer’s License, A Texas Paramedic License as well as instructor licenses in both professions. CSM Provost is a graduate of currently of Columbia College and holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice administration.
CSM Provost’s awards and decorations include; the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/2 oak leafs, Army Commendation Medal w/ 3 oak leafs, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal w/ 3 oak leafs as well as numerous other awards and decorations to include the Military Police Regimental Association Marechausse (bronze). CSM Provost foreign awards include the German Army marksmanship badge (bronze), the German Army physical fitness badge (gold) and. His unit awards include; joint, Army, Navy and Coast Guard Unit Citations.
CSM Provost is currently employed as a Traffic Enforcement Officer at the City of Euless Police Department, Euless as well as an adjunct instruct at both Tarrant County College and Sam Houston State University.
