Col. Kathleen J. Porter

Col. Kathleen J. Porter was commissioned into the Adjutant General’s Corps in December 1989, through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at the University of Miami in Florida.

She was assigned to the Individual Mobilization Augmentee Program at United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), Tampa, Florida as the Administrative Officer for J4/7 Directorate. She was then assigned as the Logistics Automation Officer, USCENTCOM J4/7, in support of Desert Thunder and Desert Fox. Porter joined the Active Guard Reserve Program in 1999 and was assigned to the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion, Lakehurst, New Jersey, as the Operations Officer. In 2002, she was assigned to the 77th Regional Readiness Center, Fort Totten, New York, as the G-1 Military Personnel Officer.

Follow on assignments included the Executive Officer and Assistant Professor of Military Science for the University of South Florida Army Reserve Officer Training Program, Tampa, Florida; Branch Chief, J1 Army Reserve, United States Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii; Battalion Commander of 11th Battalion, Army Reserve Careers Division (ARCD), Los Alamitos, California; Personnel Officer, US Forces-Afghanistan Army Reserve Affairs Team; Deputy Garrison Commander, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; and Chief, Army Reserve Enlisted Division (ARED), Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education from Florida International University, a Master of Arts Degree in Business and Office Education from the University of South Florida and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.  Colonel Porter holds a Florida Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education. Her military education includes the Adjutant General’s Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Armed Services Staff School, Human Resources Management Course, the Command and General Staff Officer Course and the U.S. Army War College.

Porter’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal (2 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), the National Defense Service Medal (BSD), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal with M Device, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (2 OLC), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization International Security Assistance Force Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Army Superior Unit Award.

She is married to Anthony Logan. They have three sons, Luke (16), Jack (14) and Lance (11).
