Major General Bryan R. Kelly

Major General Bryan R. Kelly was born in Baltimore, MD and raised in Stanford, CT. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT during 1976 graduating Cum Laude. MG Kelly was awarded a Master of Arts and a doctorate in psychology from Boston College, MA during 1979 and 1983, respectively: receiving Magna Cum Laude recognition for both degrees. MG Kelly completed his internship in psychology at North Shore Children's Hospital in Salem, MA in 1983. He developed and maintained a full time independent practice as a Health Service Provider in Clinical Psychology from 1984 through 1997 in the state of Massachusetts, before assuming the Clinical Psychologist position at the Barnstable Probate and Family Trial Court, Barnstable, MA in 1997. MG Kelly has held this position since that time. In 1989, MG Kelly received a direct commission into the U.S. Army Reserve. He served as a Clinical Psychologist in the 883d Medical Company, Boston. MA from 1989 to 1995 before assuming an assignment at the 804th Medical Brigade, Devens, MA, as the Brigade Clinical psychologist. MG Kelly remained at the 804th until 2000 when he was appointed Commander of the 883d Medical Company (CSC) and remained in command from 2000-2004. He mobilized in support of OIF1 as the Commander of the 883d during 2003 receiving the Bronze Star Medal for service during this deployment. MG Kelly returned to the 804th Medical Brigade during 2005 before being selected by USARC to assume command of the 399th CSH from February 5, 2006 to February 8, 2009 which included a second tour of duty to Iraq for OIF6. MG Kelly received a second Bronze Star Medal for this service from September of 2006 to September of 2007. The 399th CSH received the meritorious Unit Commendation for their mission success during OIF6. Following his deployment, MG Kelly was assigned as the Commanding General to the Medical Readiness and Training Command (MRTC), San Antonio, TX on June 15, 2009. He was selected as a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit on September 17, 2009 and has been appointed by the Secretary of the Army for a three year tenure on the Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee, Washington, D.C., commencing April 1, 2012. MG Kelly was assigned as the Commanding General to the Army Reserve Medical Command (AR-MEDCOM), Pinellas Park, FL on September 23, 2012. MG Kelly's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon and Combat Action Badge. MG Kelly received a Masters degree in Strategic Studies in July of 2007 at the Army War College in Carlisle, PA. MG Kelly resides in East Sandwich, MA with his wife of 34 years, Denise. They have two adult daughters, Kristina and Michelle.
