Col. William W. Wood

Chief of Staff, 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command

Colonel William W. Wood assumed responsibilities as the Chief of Staff, 75th U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command (USARIC), Headquartered in Houston, TX on 25 August 2025. He received his commission in 2000 from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY.

In his previous assignment Colonel Wood served as the Coalition Interoperability Division Chief, Headquarters Department of the Army, ACoS G-6 and also served as Division Chief for the Governance Division and global Army IT Infrastructure Division. Colonel Wood’s prior assignments include Commander, 4th Joint Communications Squadron (Airborne), Joint Communication Support Element, MacDill AFB; Commander, 324th Expeditionary Signal Battalion/Deputy Brigade Commander, 359th Tactical Theater Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon, GA; Chief Of Operations, 335th Signal Command (Theater), Atlanta, GA; Commander, 982nd Combat Camera Company (Airborne), USAR Innovation Training Readiness Program Manager, Fort Bragg, NC; Fusion Cell OIC United States Forces-Iraq Joint Operations Center, Iraq; 82nd Airborne Division Chief of Plans and Operations, ACoS G-4, XIII Airborne Corps STB S-4, Fort Bragg, NC; Assistant S-3, 82nd Airborne Division Signal Battalion; Signal Detachment Commander, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Iraq; Heavy Weapons Executive Officer, Delta Company 1-504 Parachute Infantry Regiment, Afghanistan; Rifle Platoon Leader, 2-504 Parachute Infantry Regiment. Colonel Wood has deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, and OPERATION NEW DAWN.

Colonel Wood is a graduate of Infantry Officer Basic Course, Signal Officer Advanced Course, Air Force Command and Staff College, Maxwell AFB, National War College, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. Colonel Wood holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville, a Master of Science in Military Operations from Air University, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College.

Colonel Wood’s military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Arm Achievement Medal, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Polish, Chilean, Canadian, and German foreign jump wings.

Colonel Wood has three children, an Auburn Graduate (War Eagle), a junior at University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner), and a senior in high school.
