First Sergeant Young is a native of Worcester, Massachusetts. He enlisted into the United States Army Reserve in July 1998, as Military Occupational Specialty 71L, Human Resources Specialist. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. His support to contingency operations includes a deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom, Diyala Province, Iraq.
