Command Sgt. Maj. Jason E. Goodman assumed responsibility as Command Sergeant Major of 76th Operational Response Command, Salt Lake City, Utah, October 20, 2023. He serves as the senior enlisted adviser to the Commanding General on all enlisted Soldier matters, particularly the areas affecting readiness, training, safety, leader development, and Army families.
Command Sgt. Maj. Goodman began his military career July 28, 1993, enlisting in the United States Army. Goodman has held key non-commissioned officer (NCO) positions at every echelon of command including Lead Mechanic, Instructor Driver, Section Chief, Squad Leader, Motor Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Maintenance Supervisor, Operations Non-commissioned officer in charge (NCOIC), First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major.
Goodman has completed a variety of duty assignments with the active and reserve components. With the active component he served with 1/17th Field Artillery Battalion Fort Sill, Ok; 123rd Main Support Battalion, Dexheim, Germany; 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Bosnia; 2nd Combat HET Company, Fort Riley, Kan. In the Army Reserve, he has served with multiple units including maintenance, medical, sustainment units. In his last assignment, Goodman served as the 316th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Command Sergeant Major.
Command Sgt. Maj. Goodman is a graduate of the Nominative Leaders Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Reserve Component Theater Sustainment Course, First Sergeants Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course and Primary Leadership Development Course.
His Awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon.
In his civilian career, Goodman currently serves as the Staff Operations Training Officer for the 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in Wichita, Kan.
He is married to the former Ms. Romy Tanner, and they have five children and four grandchildren.
