Colonel Lindsey E. Halter commissioned as an Aviation Officer in 1999 after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Her first assignment was as a Platoon Leader in 2-10 Aviation Regiment at Fort Drum, NY, where she later deployed with the 10th Aviation Brigade in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
She served as the Battalion Personnel Officer for the 602nd Aviation Support Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea, before leaving active duty for the Reserve. Her first Reserve assignment was with the 4th Battalion (Senior ROTC), 413th Regiment where she served as an Assistant Professor for Military Science for John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio.
Colonel Halter was selected to serve in the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program in 2012 and was assigned as the Training Officer for the US Army Reserve Command Aviation Directorate, Fort Bragg, NC. She then was selected for command of F Company, 7-158th Aviation Regiment, Fort Carson, CO. Following command, she served as the Secretary of the General Staff for the 79th Theater Sustainment Command, Los Alamitos, CA. She was the Brigade Executive Officer for the 244th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Dix, NJ, where she helped mobilize and deploy the unit in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield. Colonel Halter took command of the Fort Devens Reserve Forces Training Area in June 2019 and served as the garrison commander for two years. She served as the G-357 of the Army Reserve Aviation Command in Fort Knox, KY, before becoming the Deputy Commanding Officer.
Colonel Halter’s military education includes the Advanced Operations Course, Command and General Staff College, Aviation Maintenance Managers Course, the UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot Course, Aviation Captains Career Course, UH-60 Qualification Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, and Aviation Officer Basic Course. She has a Masters in Business Administration from The University of Akron, Ohio, and a Masters of Strategic Studies through the Army War College.
Colonel Halter’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (5), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Aviator Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
Colonel Halter is married to Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Mark Piccone.
