Command Sergeant Major James B. Hopkins enlisted in the United States Army on 12 August 1988 as a Personnel Administration Specialist (42A). He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, KY and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN.
CSM Hopkins assumed responsibility of the 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command at JBSA Fort Sam Houston, TX on 10 July 2021. Previous assignments include CSM at the 90th Sustainment Brigade in North Little Rock, AR (2019-2021); 4th BN, 8th INF Brigade Mannheim Germany, (1988-1992); 6th BN, 27th MLRS Fort Sill, Ok. (1992-1994); 1/354th INF BN, 95th Training Brigade Tulsa, OK (2000-2004); 800 Replacement Company, Tulsa, OK (2004-2005); 479th Field Artillery Brigade (2006-2011); HHC 90th Special Troops Battalion, North Little Rock, AR. (2011-2014); 300th Special Troops Battalion, Grand Prairie, TX. (2015-2016); 90th Special Troops Battalion, North Little Rock, AR. (2016- 2018).
CSM Hopkins has served on multiple deployments throughout his military career to include Operation Iraqi Freedom (2005) and a stateside mobilization with First Army as the Brigade First Sergeant.
CSM Hopkins’ military education includes the Personnel Administration Course 42A (1988), Primary Leadership Development Course (191), Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (2005), Postal Operations and Postal Supervisor Course (2005), Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (2007), First Sergeant Course (2008), Automated Logistical Specialist Course (2012), Master Resilience Training (MRT) (2013). He has also completed various training courses to include Structured Self Development, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Phase I and II and the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Course.

CSM Hopkins resides in Vilonia, AR where he works as a Brigade Staff Supervisory Administrator. His hobbies include riding motorcycle and relaxing. CSM Hopkins has three children: Kandis, Tre’Cee, and James all of Tulsa, OK.
