Sergeant Major Jerome L. Harris

Sergeant Major Jerome L. Harris was born on March 17th, 1978 in Long Beach, California. He entered the United States Army Reserve 16 August 1996 in Los Angeles, California.  He completed Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina 16 February 1997 assigned to the 63d Regional Support Command. He serves in the 806th Postal Company as a Postal Finance Clerk and deployed in support of Operation Joint Guard.
 
Sergeant Major Jerome Harris has served in a variety of positions in the Active Guard and Reserve program since January 1999. His key assignments include: Human Resources Sergeant Major, 81st Readiness Division, Program Manager, Joint Intelligence Coordination Staff, Central intelligence Agency, Senior Human Resources NCO, 420th Engineer Brigade, Drill Sergeant Leader, USAR Drill Sergeant School, Platoon Sergeant, 313th Postal Company, Information Management Administrative NCO, 63rd Regional Support Command, and Human Resources Administrative NCO, 817th Replacement Battalion.
 
Sergeant Major Harris' awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon,  NATO Medal, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Benjamin Harrison Medal, and is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
 
Sergeant Major Harris' significant military education includes all levels of Noncommissioned Officer Education System up to the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 67), Reserve Component National Security Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education I and II, Equal Opportunity Advisors Course, EEO Mediators Course, Drill Sergeant School, Brigade Human Resources Operations Course, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response & Prevention Course, Instructor Training Course, and Battle Staff Course.
 
Sergeant Major Harris' civilian education include Lean Six Sigma (Yellow and Green Belt), Conflict Resolution, Associate and Bachelor Degree in General Studies from Columbia College, Master of Business Administration in Information Management from Grantham University, and Master of Public Administration from The University of Texas at El Paso.
 
Sergeant Major Harris is married to the former Rosio Ramirez from Orange, California.  They have two children, Lydia and Xavier.
