Brigadier General John C. Hafley assumed command of the 100th Training Division (Leader Development) at Fort Knox, Kentucky on 6 November 2021
Brigadier General Hafley was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He commissioned in the Army Reserves in 1993. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, from South Texas College of Law in 2007 with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
He began his military career in 1991 as an SMP in the Missouri Army National Guard. His key developmental positions include platoon leader in detachment one, 366th Military Police Company, Huntsville, TX, Company Commander of the 366th Military Police Company, Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Battalion S3, Executive Officer, and Battalion Commander in the 607th Military Police Battalion, Grand Prairie, Texas. Brigadier General Hafley deployed to Iraq as the BN S3 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009. Other positions include OPFOR Controller and Group S1, in the 1st BDE, 75th Division (Training Support), Deputy G6 in the 75th Training Command, Houston, Texas, served as the Foreign Military Sales Case Advisor for the Ministry of Interior Military Assistance Group in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as the ADCS, G3/5/7 of the 102nd Training Division, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, and Brigade Commander of the 11th Military Police Brigade, Los Alamitos, CA including Deputy Commanding General- Support for the 88th Readiness Division at Ft. McCoy, WI.
Brigadier General Hafley’s military schools include the Military Police Officer Basic and Advance courses, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff Officers Intermediate Learning Education Course, and the United States Army War College in 2015 with a Master’s in Strategic Studies including several other military courses.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, seven Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medals, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and National Defense Medal.
Brigadier General Hafley is a former police officer, Assistant District Attorney and in his civilian capacity the owner and member of The Law Office of John C. Hafley, PLLC located in Conroe, TX. He is married to his beautiful wife, and they have two wonderful children. They currently reside in Magnolia, Texas.
