Command Sergeant Major Edward F. Simpson, a native of Chicago, Illinois enlisted in the United States Army Reserve
as a Personnel Actions Specialist. Upon completion of Basic and Advanced Individual Training, he was assigned to
the 478th Personnel Services Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Throughout his career, Command Sergeant Major Simpson has served with; Personnel Services Company, Engineers,
Military Police, Aviation, Military Intelligence, Transportation, Regional Support Command, Expeditionary
Sustainment Command and Medical Service Corp. His most recent assignment was as the Command Sergeant Major
of the 84th Great Lakes Training Division Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He is currently serving as the Command Sergeant
Major for the 335th Signal Command (Theater).
Command Sergeant Major Simpson first deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010 with the 96th
Military Police Battalion, San Diego, California. His second deployment was in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom with the 384th Military Police Battalion, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Command Sergeant Major Simpson’s military education includes, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic
Non‐Commissioned Officers Course, Advance Non‐Commissioned Officers Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major
Academy, Battalion/Brigade Pre Command Course, Nominative Leader Course, and the Senior Enlisted Joint
Professional Military Education (SEJPME) II. He has successfully completed Facility Management, Training
Management, Logistics Management, Advance Retention Course, Communications Security (COMSEC) Custodian
Course, Personnel Management, Instructor Training, and Organizational Leadership for Executives, “How the Army
Runs” Course, Senior Leader Awareness Training, Equal Opportunity Advisor Course, and Continued Education for
Senior Leaders.
His awards and decorations include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service
Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster),
Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (with 2 Silver Clusters), National Defense Service Medal (with
Bronze Service Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Gold hourglass

In his civilian career, Command Sergeant Major Simpson serves as the Command Executive Officer for the 412th
Theater Engineer Command in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he is responsible to the Commanding General for the
day to day management, supervision and oversight of the command.
Command Sergeant Major Simpson resides in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science with
concentrations in Administrative Management, Human Resources and Psychology from Excelsior University
