COL Dawn M. Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1984. She received her commission in 1997 upon Graduating from Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia, and earned her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, in 2014. COL Johnson has spent thirty years as a public educator in Kansas serving as English teacher, principal, assistant superintendent for curriculum & HR, and superintendent. Since July 2022, COL Johnson has been serving as the Superintendent of Schools for Hutchinson Public Schools, Hutchinson, Kansas.
COL Johnson’s previous assignments include Chief of Staff, 451 Sustainment Command (Expeditionary); Brigade Commander, 300 Sustainment Brigade; Chief of Training Management for the 377 Theater Sustainment Command; Interim Brigade Commander for the 653 Regional Support Group; Battalion Commander for the 336 Combat Sustainment Support Battalion; Equal Opportunity Advisor for the 451st Sustainment Command (Expeditionary); Commander, 89th Special Troops Battalion; Staff Officer for Support Operations in the 451st and 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command and the 77th Sustainment Brigade, Iraq; Commandant, 89th Regional Readiness Command; Company Commander, 368th Finance Company, and Executive Officer, 346 Military Police Co.
