Major General Fred Maiocco

Commanding General, 76th Operational Response Command

Major General Frederick R. Maiocco, Jr. assumed command of the 76th Operational Response Command (ORC) on 29 June 2019.  The 76th ORC provides augmentation and operational capabilities as directed to Combatant, Unified, and Joint Commanders, and to DoD Agencies.  On Order, Task Force 76 provides rapid CONUS response for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents.  The units of the 76th ORC are disbursed throughout the 48 continental United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  The mission and skill sets of the Command's units andSoldiers are as diverse as their locations. 

Prior to this assignment, MG Maiocco commanded the 7th Mission Support Command (MSC) from August 4, 2017 through 28 June 2019 and was dual hatted as the Deputy Commanding General of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command.  

A 1986 graduate of the United States Military Academy, MG Maiocco served nine years on active duty as an Army officer prior to entering the U.S. Army Reserve in 1995. His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, Transportation Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, Army War College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education, and CAPSTONE.  

MG Maiocco enjoyed a variety of company grade assignments throughout CONUS and Europe as an Active Duty Armor officer. After joining the Army Reserve, he branch transferred to the Transportation Corps where he nurtured a deep and abiding commitment to logistics and sustainment operations. He has served in a variety of roles during his military career, including movement control, operations officer, and CGSC/ILE/AOWC instructor. He has commanded at the platoon, company, battalion, brigade (group), and support command levels. From 2004 to 2005, he was mobilized to support Operation Iraqi Freedom as part of the 1st Corps Support Command/18th Airborne Corps. In 2011, he deployed to Kuwait with the 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) as the Support Operations Officer (SPO) and later as the Deputy Commander. As part of 1st Theater Support Command/ARCENT, he contributed directly to the planning and execution efforts required to drawdown U.S. forces from Iraq. He served as an Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer (EPLO) for the State of Oregon, with the Defense Coordinating Element (FEMA Region X), and is trained in Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA). He served simultaneously as the Commanding General of 85th Support Command in Chicago, Illinois and as the Deputy Commanding General for Support, First Army Division West, Fort Hood, Texas.  MG Maiocco’s decorations and badges include the Legion of Merit (with oak leaf cluster), Bronze Star Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with six oak leaf clusters), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Air Assault Badge, and Combat Action Badge.  

In the civilian sector, MG Maiocco serves as Chief Financial Officer/Assistant Superintendent for the Renton School District, Washington; serving over 16,000 K-12 students daily. He holds several advanced degrees including a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Master of Strategic Studies (MSS).
