416th Theater Engineer Command

Major General Brian E. Miller is the Commanding General of the 416th Theater Engineer Command.

In his previous assignment he was the Deputy Commanding General-Reserve Affairs and Deputy Chief of Engineers, Reserve Component at the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C. Major General Miller was also the Deputy Commanding General-Operations at the 412th Theater Engineer Command in Vicksburg, Mississippi and Commander, 302d Maneuver Enhancement Brigade in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
Major General Brian E. Miller is a Pennsylvania native. Originally commissioned as an Engineer Officer, he served on active duty in Baumholder, Germany, with the 40th Engineer Battalion as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Adjutant. He was also the Engineer Brigade Planner with the 1st Armored Division Engineer
Brigade in Bad Kreuznach, Germany and Tuzla, Bosnia. He then served as the Assistant Brigade Engineer for the 20th Engineer Battalion in Fort
Hood, Texas. General Miller left active duty in 1998 and joined the Army Reserve serving as a Civil Engineer on a Facility Engineer Team at Fort Dix, New Jersey and in Bosnia. He served as the operations officer of the 1-98th Engineer Battalion (TASS) in New Windsor, New York and as an adjunct professor of military science at Rutgers University. He also taught Intermediate Level Education with the 11-80th Battalion and commanded the 3-385 Basic Combat Training Battalion in Edison, New Jersey.
Major General Miller deployed to Iraq in 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he advised the 1st Iraqi Engineer Regiment and helped to build Iraqi combat engineer capabilities. He deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in 2014 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he advised the Afghan general responsible for Afghan
National Army construction and property management. Upon his return, Major General Miller became the Reserve Deputy Commander (IMA) for the US Army Corps of Engineers’ North Atlantic Division at Fort Hamilton, New York.
Major General Miller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from Duke University in 1990 where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He also holds Masters Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, Business Administration from Harvard Business School,
and Strategic Studies from the Army War College. He is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, the Armor Officer Advance Course, the Combined Arms Services and Staff School, the Command and General Staff Officer College, and the US Army War College.
His military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Action
Badge and Parachutist Badge.
Major General Miller is the Director of Procurement for PSEG Long Island - a company that manages the operations of Long Island's power grid. He also maintains his Professional Engineer (PE) license. He is married to Wendy Miller with their two sons Nicholas and Zachary all residing in Middletown, New Jersey.
