COL Doug Medd currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the 807th Medical Command Deployment Support (MCDS) at FT Douglas, UT. In this capacity he serves as a key advisor to the Commanding General. He also supervises and leads a primary and special staff of approximately 200 personnel (AGR, TPU and civilians) and serves as a key conduit between the 807th HQ staff and the Brigade Commanders and their staff.
Prior to be assigned as the 807TH’ S Chief of Staff in July 2015, COL Medd attended the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA, in residence, from July 2014 – July 2015. Previously, he served as the Chief, Operations and Plans, Command Surgeons Office, USARC, FT Bragg, NC; Brigade Executive Officer for the 139th Medical Brigade, Independence, MO; Executive Officer, 325th CSH, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; and as Brigade S-3, 139th Medical Brigade. COL Medd served in several positions while assigned to the Health Services Directorate at Human Resources Command, St. Louis, MO, including AMEDD officer career manager, Directorate Operations Officer and as a Team Chief for one of two AMEDD officer career management teams. He has also served as a Healthcare Recruiter, assigned to US Army Recruiting Command, and as S-4, for the 114th CSH, FT Snelling, MN.
COL Medd is a graduate of the AMEDD Officer Basic Course, AMEDD Captains Career Course; US Army Recruiting Course; AMEDD Captains Career Course; Combined Arms Staff & Service School (CAS3); AMEDD Health Services Plans, Operations, Intelligence, Security and Training Course; Command & General Staff College – ILE; and the US Army War College. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of North Dakota, a Masters of Business Administration from Trident University International and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (7OLC), Army Achievement medal (2OLC), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War om Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3).
COL Medd and his wife Jenny have two daughters, Avery and Peyton.
