NEW CENTURY, Kan. - Attendees join in honoring Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bryan J. Nichols during a building memorialization ceremony in New Century, Kansas, August 6, 2021. Nichols was a CH-47 Chinook helicopter pilot who was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011, along with 29 other service members. Family, dignitaries, fellow service members and Department of Defense Civilians attended the ceremony held at the New Century air hangar home to Nichols' unit, 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion). The unit continues to mobilize in support of U.S. DoD missions at home and around the world.
