SAN ANTONIO, Texas - U.S. Army North leaders paid special tribute to World War II Veteran Pfc. Reid Clanton’s service awarding him long-overdue medals during a ceremony held in his honor May 16, 2022, at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Clanton enlisted in the U.S. Army at 18 years old, May 19, 1943, and his first combat assignment in a forward artillery observer team with the 29th Infantry Division landed him on Omaha Beach on D-Day. The military medals awarded to Clanton included the Bronze Star Medal.
