FORT JACKSON, S.C. - Soldiers from the 874th Forward Surgical Team located in Fort Jackson, S.C. conducted a deployment readiness exercise on Friday to prepare for a no notice deployment from home station to anywhere in the world they are called upon to provide medical support. Forward surgical support is critical to success in combat because it provides a lifesaving capability for brigade and below sized units that are forward on the battlefield. The 874th FST is a detachment subordinate to the 345th Combat Support Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. and the 332nd Medical Brigade out of Nashville, Tenn. The 874th FST, is manned by highly skilled and certified medical professionals who are committed to providing best practices for our Soldiers.
