STOCKBRIDGE, Mich. — - Zack Leys and Tyler Rosas hammer down a pole while building a fire pit smoker out of cinderblocks to celebrate their annual "Happy Alive Day" picnic in Stockbridge, Michigan, June 15, 2018. Both men were U.S. Army Reserve military police Soldiers with the 303rd MP Company, out of Jackson, Michigan, who survived a Taliban attack on their base while deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, June 19, 2012. This year marks their sixth anniversary of celebrating life. The Soldiers organize the picnic each year to celebrate life and to show that unity in the military brotherhood is stronger than the enemies who attacked them. Twelve Soldiers from the unit received the Purple Heart from wounds sustained in that attack. (U.S. Army Reserve photo by Master Sgt. Michel Sauret)
