Col. Robert Hoffman

Commander, 97th Training Brigade

Colonel Robert C. Hoffman is originally from Schaumburg, Illinois. He commissioned in 2002 and has served as an Armor, Cavalry, and Space Operations Officer. His active-duty assignments include: Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, 2nd Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado, and Tall Afar, Iraq (OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 05-07); Current Operations Battle Captain, US Army Central Command, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Assistance Operations Officer, Commander, K Troop, and Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 4th Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany, Diyala, Iraq (OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 07-09), and Kandahar, Afghanistan (OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 10-11); Army Space Support Team Leader, 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, US Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Colorado Springs, CO.

Transitioning to the Army Reserve in 2013, he served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science, 4th Battalion, 414th SROTC Regiment, 104th Training Division, with duty at the University of Colorado  (UCCS), CO; Space Operations Officer, US Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, Colorado Springs, CO; and Command Inspector General, 95th Training Division (Initial Entry Training), Ft Sill, OK; Commander, Main Command Post – Operational Detachment (I CORPS); and Deputy Reserve Affairs Advisor, Department of the Army G-3/5/7 Strategic Operations.

Colonel Hoffman’s professional military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Space Operations Officer Qualification Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and the US Army War College. Colonel Hoffman’s civilian education includes a Distinguished Graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Webster University where he received a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership, and a Superior Graduate of the US Army War College where he received a Master of Strategic Studies.

Colonel Hoffman’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Badge, Master Space Badge, Parachutist Badge, Basic Army Instructor Badge, and Army Inspector General Badge, and Norwegian Foot March Skill Insignia – Bronze.
