Command Sergeant Major Gilbert J. Garrett is a native of Michigan,

Command Sergeant Major Garrett enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in November 1988 as a private; and attended basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Personal Administration specialist at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. 

Assignment include Command Sergeant Major 718^th Transportation Battalion, 2MCDT,86^th TNG CMD, 2-337^th CS/CSS, 3-335^th CS/CSS, 85^th Support Command, the Secretary General Staff (SGS), G3 Interim Operations Sergeant Major, and Senior Plans NCOIC.  First Sergeant 2/337^th TSBN First Army Division East 454^th Transportation Company, Columbus, Ohio, 182^nd Transportation Co, Bay City, MI,  4^th BN 38^th Field Artillery, Bay City, MI,  Second US Army, JTF 105 Ft. Command Sergeant Major Garrett is currently assigned as the Command Sergeant Major for the 3^rd Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) located in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Command Sergeant Major Garrett is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Sergeants Major Course Class 65 (2015), Fort Bliss, Texas.

His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic and Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Courses, First Sergeant’s Course (Ph I), 88M Wheeled Vehicle Operator Course, Unit Trainers Course, Unit Small Arms Trainers Course Ph I, II, ATTRS course, Master Resilience Trainer, and is a Protocol Specialist.

Command Sergeant Major Garrett has served in numerous positions throughout his career spanning over 36 years.  This includes; Secretary for the General Staff, Interim G3 Sergeant Major, First Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Squad and Section Sergeant, Human Resources NCOIC, and Sr. Plans NCOIC.

Command Sergeant Major Garrett Awards Include; Bronze Star, Meritorious Service medal 5th award, Army Commendation 3^rd award, Army Achievement, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal w/ Silver oak leaf cluster, Global War on Terror & Service Medals, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Silver Hour glass/m-device, and Numeral 4, Army Superior Unit Award 2^nd award , Combat Action Badge. CSM Garrett is also a member of the Ancient Order of Saint Christopher for his service to the Transportation Corps.

Command Sergeant Major Gilbert J. Garrett studied Business at Delta Community College University Center, Michigan. Currently resides in Michigan with his wife Denise, and daughter Kayla Marie. Command Sergeant Major Garrett works for FEDEX as an operations supervisor and is a certified firefighter.
