353rd CACOM supports New York City Marathon

NEW YORK - Brig. Gen. Dean Thompson, commander of the 353rd Civil Affairs Command, greets supporters along the 26.2-mile route of the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Civil affairs soldier must be particularly adept at forging friendships and building trust within communities. While some of the soldiers of the 353rd CACOM support municipal, state and federal entities from their home station at Fort Wadsworth, New York (Staten Island), other 353rd CACOM soldiers are deployed to foreign locations providing expertise in civil-military operations to host governments and militaries.
