WEBVTT 00:00.270 --> 00:02.492 I think , you know , we're , what we do 00:02.492 --> 00:04.770 is incredibly important and , you know , 00:04.770 --> 00:04.250 you want to be a part of something 00:04.260 --> 00:08.020 exciting . I'm Jeffrey 00:08.029 --> 00:09.918 Lawson specialist with the United 00:09.918 --> 00:12.085 States Army Reserve . And , you know , 00:12.085 --> 00:14.418 I always kind of been a big history guy , 00:14.418 --> 00:14.149 grew up reading about , you know , the 00:14.159 --> 00:16.159 accomplishments of generals . And I 00:16.159 --> 00:18.381 think I got to a point in my life where 00:18.381 --> 00:20.603 I didn't want to just read about it . I 00:20.603 --> 00:22.603 wanted to be a part of that why the 00:22.603 --> 00:24.770 Army Reserve specifically , you know , 00:24.770 --> 00:26.992 I kinda had already started my civilian 00:26.992 --> 00:29.159 career , didn't really want to have to 00:29.159 --> 00:28.530 give that up . I felt like I was on a 00:28.540 --> 00:30.707 good trajectory and the Reserve so you 00:30.707 --> 00:32.707 can continue your civilian career . 00:34.270 --> 00:36.490 I've never had any issues with my 00:36.500 --> 00:38.667 employer . Uh , and they're proud what 00:38.667 --> 00:40.889 I do in the Re Reserve . I like to tell 00:40.889 --> 00:43.000 people that because I'm proud of it . 00:43.000 --> 00:44.833 And there was also made a lot of 00:44.833 --> 00:46.944 financial sense because I came out of 00:46.944 --> 00:46.509 uh law school , like most attorneys 00:46.520 --> 00:48.860 with some student loan debt . And uh 00:48.869 --> 00:50.869 the more you read about the student 00:50.869 --> 00:53.091 loan repayment program just seemed like 00:53.091 --> 00:52.650 a win , win . To do something you 00:52.659 --> 00:54.770 always wanted to do and also put your 00:54.770 --> 00:56.992 family in a better financial position . 00:56.992 --> 00:59.215 And so far it's delivered on all that . 01:04.489 --> 01:06.711 My third passion is coaching lacrosse . 01:07.510 --> 01:09.288 Right now . I coach high school 01:09.288 --> 01:11.232 lacrosse . Prior to that , I coach 01:11.232 --> 01:13.010 Collegially and was a collegial 01:13.010 --> 01:14.954 lacrosse player as well . The Army 01:14.954 --> 01:17.010 Reserve has honestly been one of the 01:17.010 --> 01:19.177 most flexible of all those employers . 01:19.177 --> 01:21.121 I have not had the Army Reserve be 01:21.121 --> 01:23.232 something where it's a gigantic drain 01:23.232 --> 01:25.343 on those . I was a lawyer and a coach 01:25.343 --> 01:27.510 before I joined the Army Reserve . I'm 01:27.510 --> 01:27.470 a lawyer and a coach now and I'm 01:27.480 --> 01:29.480 probably doing both of those things 01:29.480 --> 01:33.029 more . So there is no tradition in my 01:33.040 --> 01:35.239 family of having served and I think 01:35.250 --> 01:37.361 leaving a legacy of service behind is 01:37.361 --> 01:39.528 incredibly important . The best people 01:39.528 --> 01:41.694 I've been around in my life are people 01:41.694 --> 01:44.500 who are committed to serving the R 01:44.510 --> 01:46.732 Reserve is a place where you have to be 01:46.732 --> 01:48.788 a high quality person to succeed and 01:48.788 --> 01:50.899 you can have your son be around those 01:50.899 --> 01:53.010 type of things and hear those stories 01:53.010 --> 01:54.899 from you that's gonna make them a 01:54.899 --> 01:56.954 better person . If you're a guy like 01:56.954 --> 01:58.843 myself who's getting in your late 01:58.843 --> 02:01.066 twenties and you're thinking we want to 02:01.066 --> 02:03.177 do it , just go , the regret is never 02:03.177 --> 02:02.610 gonna go away . It's never gonna get 02:02.620 --> 02:04.787 any better . You're always gonna wanna 02:04.787 --> 02:06.953 do this challenge yourself because you 02:06.953 --> 02:06.680 probably are capable more than anything .
