A Ghana Army soldier provides medical information to a local woman in Yendi, Ghana, June 3, 2023, during a medic civic action program as part of exercise African Lion 2023 (AL23). Ghana and U.S. medical personnel provided free health screenings and medical treatments to approximately 1,200 civilians from the community. The program served as an opportunity for the partnered medical providers to build rapport and cultural awareness with the local community. African Lion is an annual training event between the U.S., Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. Eighteen nations and approximately 8,000 personnel will participate in AL23, U.S. Africa Command's largest annual combined, joint exercise that will take place in Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia from May 13 – June 18, 2023.
