Observer-controller-trainers assigned to the San Antonio, Texas-based Medical Readiness and Training Command hosted Army Reserve medical professionals from Army field hospitals and other units in the Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety program Sept. 14 through Sept. 17 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. The Army Reserve Soldiers learned through Team STEPPS to use standard vocabulary and processes, in order to prevent mistakes that threaten patients during scenarios in a mock emergency room, intensive care unit, operating room, lab and pharmacy. Team STEPPS training helps individuals and departments work together to care for patients.
