Command Sgt. Maj. Vernon Perry III, Command Sergeant Major, 85th Support Command shakes the hand of Shelby Iubel, wife of Pfc. Tyler Iubelt, thanking her for the sacrifice her husband made. Iubelt, who served with the First Cavalry Sustainment Brigade, was killed in Afghanistan on November 12, 2016. S. Iubelt said she was honored to see so many people reach out to show her and her mother-in-law so much love and support. Iubelt and her mother-in-law were recognized for their sacrifice during the Wreath Laying ceremony at the Richard J. Daley Plaza on May 27, 2017 in Chicago.

Command briefs new leaders on the way ahead for readiness requirements

Brig. Gen. Frederick R. Maiocco Jr., Commanding General, 85th Support Command, explains during a New Command Teams Orientation brief on May 20, 2017 in Arlington Heights, Ill. why it is so important to understand the unique partnership between the 85th SPT CMD and First Army. He shared that First Army is an “executive agent for training and training validation” in the Army. And the 85th Support Command is embedded as an operationally controlled element of First Army, and it is critical that we are synchronized to support that mission.

Headquarters staff hits marksmanship with high qualification rate

Col. Robert Cooley, Deputy Commander, 85th Support Command, engages his targets on the M9 qualification range during the headquarters individual weapons qualification at Joliet Training Area, Apr. 1, 2017. The headquarters staff spent one battle assembly day at the range to qualify on the M16 rifle and M9 pistol achieving a 100 percent qualification rate on the M-16 and an 88 percent qualification rate on the M9.

Army Reserve Soldiers mobilize to train and equip a ready force
April 4, 2017
Army Reserve Sgt. Mindy Baptist, observer coach/trainer assigned to the 3/335th Training Support Battalion, based out of Fort Sheridan, Illinois, stretches out after morning battalion physical training exercise. Baptist is on her first mobilization in 11 years of service. The 3/335th TSBn, operationally controlled by First Army, recently began a one-year mobilization to train and equip Army Reserve and National Guard units ahead of overseas deployments to remain effective as the most capable, combat ready and lethal Federal Reserve force in the history of the nation.

New leaders with a new understanding

Army Reserve unit honors ‘great officer…great human’ killed in Fla. shooting

The Army Reserve’s 85th Support Command senior leaders, along with soldiers assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 383rd Regiment, salute the Fallen Soldier battle cross display during a Fallen Soldier memorial held June 25, 2016 at the battalion in St. Louis. Capt. Antonio D. Brown, a 3-383rd member, was one of the 49 victims killed in the Orlando nightclub shooting June 12, 2016.
